TODD NAMED THIRD-TEAM NFCA ALL-REGION FOR SECOND STRAIGHT SEASON

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of South Alabama softball senior Kaleigh Todd has been named third-team all-region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for the second-straight season as announced by the organization on Thursday.

Todd was one of 37 players from the South Region to be named to the 12-player third team.  A total of 389 student-athletes from 164 programs were named to one of the three all-region teams by the NFCA.

The all-region awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third-team selections, and are voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams.  All honorees are now eligible for selection to the 2018 NFCA Division I All-America teams that will be announced at approximately 5 p.m. EDT on Wed., May 30, via NFCA.org.

The honor marks the second national postseason honor for Todd in her career as she was also named to the NFCA all-region third team at the end of last season.  With Todd's selection, the Jaguars have now had a player named to one of the three teams each season since 2011.  The Bessemer, Ala., native is just the second South Alabama player to receive the honor from the NFCA multiple times during their career joining Hannah Campbell, who received the honor four times.

Earlier this month, Todd earned First-Team all-Sun Belt Conference honors for the third-straight season, after earning preseason all-league honors.

Todd wrapped up her stellar Jaguar career as the program's all-time career leader in hits (231), stolen bases (74), batting average (.374) and multi-hit games (63).  Her 213 games played are tied with two other players for second most in program history and her 166 consecutive starts are fourth on the all-time list.

This season, the Jag second baseman ranked among the league leaders in batting average (.388), hits (69), runs scored (32), on-base percentage (.432) and stolen bases (18).
