MEN’S TENNIS PLAYER JACOBS RANKED TO START THE SPRING SEASON

TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of South Alabama's men's tennis player Tuki Jacobs is ranked No. 91 in the first Oracle/ITA Division I Men's National Rankings to start the spring season.  This is the first top 100 ranking in Jacobs' career, and he is the only player in the Sun Belt to be in the top 100.

"I'm excited because I've been trying to get ranked for awhile," said Jacobs.  "I had a good season last year, and the ranking system can be a little tricky and weird as far as how it ranks players.  I'm lucky and blessed to be in the rankings to start the year and hope to maintain it throughout the year."

The reigning conference student-athlete of the year, Jacobs won seven of his nine matches in the fall, including a straight-set win against No. 35 Ryan Peniston of Memphis and a loss to the No. 6 ranked player, Mississippi State's Nuno Borges.

"I'm excited to be back and start the spring season," said Jacobs.  "It's always great to go back home to spend time with family, but now it's time to work.  I know the whole team is excited and ready for the season to begin.  The coaches, players and everyone else is motivated for success this year."

The Jaguars kick off the spring season on Saturday in the Florida State Invitational.
